CITY MANAGER

Eastpointe, MI (pop. 34,318) – The City of Eastpointe is a full-service city located in Macomb County, Michigan. Eastpointe offers affordable, diverse residential neighborhoods, with numerous restaurants and shopping options along its retail corridors. Neighborhoods are tidy, walkable, and tree-lined, with plentiful housing and strong public and private schools; all within a compact 5.1 square miles. Eastpointe offers easy access to urban, suburban, and waterfront amenities, just 5 miles from Lake St. Clair and 11 miles from Detroit’s best sports, dining, and entertainment. The City is a family-friendly hub at the heart of Southeast Michigan living!

Eastpointe operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council consists of an elected Mayor and four Council Members. The City provides a full range of police, fire, court, library, assessing, water/sewer operations, community/economic development, public works, parks, and administrative services. The City Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer and makes all personnel appointments except for the City Attorney.

The City Manager oversees the implementation of policy, manages a $71.9 million budget ($29.9 million General Fund) and leads 123 full-time and 45 part-time employees represented by six labor unions.

The City Council is seeking a highly professional, ethical, energetic candidate for its next City Manager. The ideal candidate will be engaged in the community, with experience in budgeting, economic development, infrastructure projects, and collective bargaining. The Manager will foster open communication and proactively collaborate with stakeholders across the City. Candidates should demonstrate a sense of passion for public service and empathy for a wide range of perspectives.

Candidate Minimum Qualifications Include

At least one year of experience as a manager or assistant manager of a city or village (required by City Charter).

Progressively responsible leadership experience in a community of comparable complexity.

A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or related field; a master’s degree preferred.

Salary is $132,764 - $161,161 (DOQE), with a comprehensive benefits package. Eastpointe is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
