Envoy is revolutionizing workplace experience technology, and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our dynamic finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be a key leader responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, and developing a high-performing accounting team.
This hybrid position requires at least four days a week (Monday through Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ You will Lead and develop talent
by managing a high-performing accounting team, including one Accounting Manager and four Senior Accountants, while fostering a collaborative culture of continuous improvement.
Drive operational excellence
by overseeing monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes using Intacct (accounting) and Aleph (FP&A), ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting that exceeds industry standards.
Champion innovation
by implementing AI-driven solutions and positioning Envoy as a leader in financial reporting automation and efficiency.
Manage global operations
including payroll for the US, UK, and Canada (utilizing Rippling for US HRIS), expense reimbursements through Airbase, and accounts payable via Bill.com.
Ensure compliance
by managing sales tax across all 50 states through Avalara and maintaining adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Lead audit processes
by managing the annual financial audit with external auditors (PWC), ensuring seamless engagement and outstanding results.
Provide technical expertise
in complex accounting areas including ASC 606 (revenue recognition), capitalized software, warrants, stock-based compensation, consolidations, leases (ASC 842), and income taxes.
Optimize treasury functions
through strategic cash management, accurate forecasting, and strong banking relationships.
Build scalable systems
by developing robust internal controls and accounting processes that support rapid company growth.
Drive strategic initiatives
by partnering with the CFO and cross-functional leaders on financial analysis and business planning.
Stay ahead of the curve
by maintaining current knowledge of accounting pronouncements and industry best practices.
You have
Educational foundation:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Professional experience:
Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated career growth
Leadership experience:
Minimum 5 years leading and managing accounting teams of 5+ individuals with proven success in talent development
Certification:
CPA certification strongly preferred
Industry expertise:
SaaS/technology industry experience highly preferred
Public company readiness:
Experience with public company reporting or preparing for public company readiness
Technical mastery:
Strong US GAAP knowledge with specific expertise in ASC 606, capitalized software, warrants, stock-based compensation, consolidations, leases, and taxes
Operational excellence:
Proven experience managing month-end close processes, payroll, AP, and expense reimbursements in fast-paced environments
Audit experience:
Experience with financial audits and working with external auditors (Big 4 experience preferred)
Systems proficiency:
Advanced skills with accounting software (Intacct preferred) and financial systems, including Rippling, Airbase, Bill.com, and Avalara
Communication skills:
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities with proven relationship-building capabilities
Problem-solving:
Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to resolve complex issues
Adaptability:
Ability to excel in fast-paced, dynamic environments while managing multiple priorities

Envoy's compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and excellent benefits. If you are located in the
San Francisco Bay Area , our expected cash compensation for this role is
$182,500- $215K
