Job Summary :

The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of electrical construction projects, including commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments. This role requires deep industry knowledge, the ability to interpret complex blueprints and specifications, and proficiency in estimating software. The Senior Electrical Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure bids are competitive and aligned with project goals and market conditions. Key Responsibilities : Estimating & Proposal Development : Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to ensure all project elements are covered in the estimate. Develop complete bid proposals in response to RFPs (Request for Proposals) and RFQs (Request for Quotations), ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Coordinate with purchasing and procurement teams to obtain vendor pricing and negotiate favorable terms.

Project Collaboration : Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of estimates. Assist project teams in reviewing and validating costs at various stages of project development, including value engineering exercises. Provide technical support and guidance on electrical components during project pre-construction planning phases.

Cost Control & Market Analysis : Monitor and analyze market trends in materials, labor rates, and other cost factors to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential cost savings or value engineering opportunities in project scopes. Ensure project budgets are maintained within scope, minimizing variance from initial estimates during construction phases.

Client & Vendor Relations : Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and vendors during the estimating process, answering questions and addressing concerns related to cost estimates. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure the availability of cost-effective resources and materials.

Process Improvement : Continuously review and improve estimating processes, tools, and templates to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Keep up to date with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure estimates reflect the most current practices.

Qualifications : Education : Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Certification in Estimating (such as AACE's Certified Estimating Professional (CEP)) is a plus.

Experience : Minimum of 7-10 years of electrical estimating experience, preferably within the commercial, industrial, or infrastructure sectors. Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and labor requirements for electrical construction projects.

Skills : Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, ConEst) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.). Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

Certifications : OSHA 10/30 certification preferred but not required. Certifications in cost estimation or construction management are advantageous.

Other Requirements : Knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes and standards. Ability to travel to project sites, client meetings, and vendor locations as necessary.
