Dietitian Technician

Under the supervision of a dietitian, the dietitian technician assists in providing dietetic and nutrition services to individuals, which may include any of the tasks and activities described for a dietitian 1 and 2. The dietitian technician upholds the program's standards and requirements by maintaining the individuals' records, documenting and updating their information, including diet histories, plans, and any modifications prescribed by physicians. Performs standardized dietetic care tasks, such as nutrition screenings and assessments on low-risk individuals. Observes individuals at mealtimes; records and reports observations, including eating habits and reactions to food and special diets; and consults with supervisors and treatment staff regarding changes in individuals' diets and nutrition goals. Provides standard nutrition information and instruction on diets and food preparation activities to individuals, families, and healthcare staff. Inspects or supervises food preparation, handling, service areas, and meals; and assists in identifying deficiencies and implementing corrective action plans to ensure compliance with prescribed diets, menus, standards, and requirements. Monitors and maintains food service and supply inventories. Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Dietetic Technician, Registered or Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered. Works Tuesday through Saturday off on Sunday and Monday. Work hours are 11:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. One permanent, non-competitive, full-time appointment. Posted salary range ($51,695 -$62,447) includes $4,000 of Downstate Adjustment. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
