Payroll Lead

Addison Group is supporting the search for a Payroll Lead to join a collaborative and established organization in Minneapolis. This position plays a key role in managing complex payroll operations across multiple statesincluding union and non-union environments. The ideal candidate brings a sharp eye for compliance, a proactive mindset, and experience navigating the unique demands of a high-volume, hourly payroll structure. Candidates with backgrounds in construction, manufacturing, or engineering will hit the ground running and are highly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include: Lead end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state, multi-union hourly and salaried employees Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly/biweekly payroll cycles Review and approve timecards, adjustments, and exception reports Interpret and apply union contracts and prevailing wage requirements Collaborate with HR and Accounting on payroll-to-GL reconciliations, benefits, and leave tracking Handle garnishments, deductions, and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations Support audits, reporting, and payroll tax filings as needed Provide guidance to junior payroll staff and serve as main point of contact for internal payroll questions Assist with system upgrades, data integrity checks, and payroll process improvements Qualifications: 4+ years of payroll experience, including union and multi-state processing Prior experience in construction, engineering, or manufacturing industries preferred Strong understanding of wage and hour laws, union contracts, and payroll tax compliance Proficient in payroll systems (ADP, Paylocity, UKG, or similar) and Microsoft Excel Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to handle confidential information Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Operations Why Work with Addison Finance & Accounting?
