Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will be accountable for accurate invasive radiology scheduling, collection of pertinent patient demographic information, securing appointments with supporting service departments and providers. In addition, the CMA will facilitate patient care by assisting providers and nurses with follow up appointments, prescription refills, prior authorizations, vital signs, scheduling, referrals, etc. The CMA will contribute to a positive patient experience and be an active participant in the organization to maintain a positive, healthy work environment.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Accountable for daily outcomes and continued improvement of invasive radiology scheduling accuracy.

2. Reviews schedules daily to ensure accuracy of patient, time, provider and procedure.

3. Coordinates invasive procedures with availability of other hospital departments, providers, and vendors.

4. Resolves conflicts of time, staffing, and equipment availability when identified for procedures/appointments.

5. Communicates with charge RN, manager, providers, appropriate staff when special circumstances arise.

6. Obtain vital signs, perform phlebotomy, review all medications with patient, ensure all current medications within EHR are being taken accurately. Review allergies with patient, updates EHR if needed. Review and update patient medical, surgical, social and family history.

Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned: Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education -

Required: graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Certification through an accrediting organization for Medical Assistants. High School diploma or equivalent and medical terminology course.
