TITLE: District Technology Support Specialist I REPORTS TO: Director of Technology JOB DESCRIPTION: The district technology support specialist is responsible for the day to day technical support for students and staff in the district. This position will be located in one of the district schools and that school's tech needs is their primary responsibility. Methuen Public Schools provides a 1:1 Chromebook program to all grammar school students. The management and tracking of Chromebook repairs are a primary role of this position. Repairs are vetted by the technician and low-level repairs are done in-house, for more involved repairs the technician will enter a ticket into a queue and follow-up until the device is repaired. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users. QUALIFICATIONS: • College degree in the field of computer science and/or equivalent work experience • Ability to provide technical expertise and support to end-users for Macintosh, PC, and mobile devices (iPads/Chromebooks) with working knowledge of Mac OS, iOS, Windows, Chrome, and Google apps • Experience with troubleshooting and solving technology related issues • Ability to physically move equipment within a building • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a changing environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations • Highly self-motivated and directed with a keen attention to detail and a strong customer service orientation • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide timely support for all users by recording and following-up on tasks entered in the ticket system as well as responding to emails, messages, and phone calls • Provide direct technical support for students as needed • Collaborate to troubleshoot problems and discuss issues with the technology team • Execute assigned tasks and follow project plans • Configure, setup and provide repairs for end user devices and equipment • Reallocate, replace, and install equipment and software throughout the district as needed • Facilitate repair process for district owned devices • Maintain inventories, payment records, and other necessary documentation • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology
