Duties and Responsibilities :
Examine material or product for defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds. Compare product with specifications and/or drawings to ensure completion of assembly. Verify dimensions of product or material using a variety gages, instruments and equipment Perform needed material inspection as part of the receiving process to include raw material, hardware, castings, etc. Reject defective parts, and mark type of defect on parts and/or containers Interact with other departments as needed. Resolve customer issues with Manufacturing and/or Engineering departments. Calibrate equipment and measuring devices as required by calibration system. Perform gage and instrument repair as part of the calibration process Perform setup and in-process verification of product as needed. Provide appropriate quality training and mentoring of personnel in various production areas to ensure clear understanding of the operator's duties and expectations. Assist in the management of both our non-conformance tracking system and breakage system. Take a lead role in troubleshooting and problem-solving daily production challenges that occur. Take an active role in reviewing existing processes for continuous improvement opportunities, targeting quality and other process waste, and communicate as appropriate Identifying and recommending component changes that will result in improved quality, performance, assembly, etc. Participate in formal design reviews to provide input based on experiences and knowledge.
Ideal Education/Experience
Two-year degree from college or technical school in a technical discipline is highly desirable, 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Inspector Certification is desirable, preferably through ASQ
