Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior CAD Designer with 3–5 years of experience in drafting easements, writing legal descriptions, and generating rights-of-way. This position plays a key role in supporting clients and internal teams by processing field survey data, interpreting legal documents, and managing easement-related drawings and documentation. The ideal candidate is proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and values collaboration, consistency, and delivering high-quality work within the utility design and engineering field.
Responsibilities:
Process and interpret field survey data accurately.
Draft easements, legal descriptions, and rights-of-way documentation.
Read and interpret legal and property documents.
Prepare detailed project drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including plans, sections, details, and notes.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers to meet deadlines.
Ensure compliance with client-specific and internal CAD standards.
Conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews on all drawing files.
Coordinate schedules and deliverables with various team members.
Assist with permit drawing set development.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in AutoCAD drafting or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of experience drafting easements, writing legal descriptions, and generating rights-of-way.
At least 5 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Experience with field survey data processing.
Strong understanding of legal documents and easement documentation.
Experience with MDOT and MicroStation is a plus.
Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe software.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Work Environment:
Primarily office-based.
Occasional travel or field work may be required.
Ability to interpret technical sketches and drawings.
