Project Manager – Underground Utilities | Civil Construction

Are you a collaborative, detail-oriented Project Manager with underground utility experience looking for a long-term home where you can grow your career?
A family-oriented, civil construction firm that specializes in open trench and high-voltage underground electrical work, gas, fiber optics, and horizontal directional drilling (HDD). With active projects in multiple states and a tight-knit team at headquarters, we’re seeking a proactive
Project Manager
to join us onsite and support our growing operational needs.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Manage multiple underground utility projects from planning through closeout, typically ranging from $500K to $2.5M and lasting 6 weeks to 3 months.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and safety standards across a portfolio of 5–10 active projects.
Lead virtual meetings with field teams, customers, and stakeholders to monitor progress, resolve issues, and align on deliverables.
Track key project metrics including production performance, cost vs budget, and union requirements.
Oversee documentation such as contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and insurance certificates.
Collaborate with Estimating and Operations to prepare bid packages and assess constructability and risk.
Perform job site visits as needed (travel is typically
Provide operational and financial insight to support senior leadership (COO, CFO).
✅ What You Bring:
2+ years of Project Management experience
in the construction industry, ideally with underground utility and open trench work.
Experience with
HDD tooling/equipment , cost tracking, and budget oversight.
Strong organizational and analytical skills to stay on top of multiple fast-moving jobs.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project costing software (e.g., ComputerEase or Deltek).
