General Summary of Position The primary role serves as the key link between Patient Access Services (PAS) and various hospital departments, ensuring the swift and accurate placement of patients in beds. Collaboration with nursing and clinical departments is essential to meet patients' clinical needs while managing bed availability. This position involves coordinating and directing all activities and personnel within the Capacity Management Department. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Act as a vital liaison between PAS, physicians, and hospital departments to facilitate prompt bed assignments, resolve operational challenges, and propose improvements for enhanced patient access. Foster trusting, collaborative relationships within the healthcare environment and create educational programs aimed at improving communication and bed placement efficiency. In conjunction with the Nursing Director, manage hiring, evaluations, coaching, mentoring, and development of Clinical Bed Coordinators and Patient Placement Representatives to align with the organization's vision and values. Maintain updated status of all beds, revise the Medicare Bed Report as necessary, and assist with annual bed reports, ensuring electronic bed boards reflect current conditions. Collaborate with nursing leadership to assess bed availability while balancing unit census, patient acuity, and staffing needs. Identify and implement process improvements to optimize access to bed assignments, developing policies and systems to facilitate effective communication across departments. Work with the Nursing Director to establish departmental goals supporting the nursing strategic plan while ensuring compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. Generate and assess reports on bed assignments and turnover times, offering suggestions for service improvements and engaging in performance enhancement initiatives. Exemplify clinical leadership through professional practice and accountability, fostering a coaching environment that promotes staff development and ethical standards. Minimum Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Experience: 5-7 years of progressively responsible nursing experience with strong clinical skills and effective management of non-subordinate team members required. Experience in bed utilization is required. Licenses and Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia is required. This position offers a competitive hiring range of $87,318 - $157,289.
