Job Description:
Our client, a multidisciplinary AECM firm with a strong east coast presence, is looking to hire a Construction Interface Manager. This would be a full-time, direct-hire position working for their firm, based in the Manhattan area. This role may also require travel to worksites as needed.
The
Construction Interface Manager
plays a critical role in overseeing coordination and communication across all stakeholders in a complex construction project. This position ensures the effective integration of multiple contractors, disciplines, and external agencies to prevent conflicts, resolve interface issues, and support on-time, on-budget, high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Interface Identification & Definition
Identify key interaction points across project packages and stakeholders
Define interface scopes and responsibilities for all parties
Maintain a detailed interface register and responsibility matrix Interface Planning & Strategy
Develop and implement structured interface management plans
Establish communication protocols, workflows, and dispute resolution mechanisms
Manage interface control documents and agreements Communication & Stakeholder Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for all interface-related matters
Ensure timely and consistent information flow between all parties Progress Monitoring & Risk Management
Track interface-related milestones aligned to overall project schedules
Proactively manage and mitigate interface-related risks Conflict Resolution
Mediate and resolve interface-related disputes
Escalate unresolved issues appropriately Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure stakeholder adherence to interface protocols and contractual responsibilities
Verify deliverables for compliance with technical, safety, and quality standards Reporting
Maintain comprehensive documentation of interface activities and communications
Provide interface status updates to senior leadership Qualifications :
10+ Years experience in large-scale civil construction or infrastructure projects 10+ Years of proven experience in interface management or coordination roles Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills Proficiency in project/interface management software Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing priorities Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field PMP (Project Management Professional) certification AACE CCP (Certified Cost Professional) or equivalent ISO 21500 or PMI-based training Construction safety certifications relevant to large infrastructure projects
