Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced
Embedded Software Configuration Engineer
for a
long-term contract
in
Dallas-Fort Worth, TX.
In this role, you will develop and implement software and hardware configuration management plans for projects impacting vehicle electrical and electronic architecture. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in configuration management processes, tools, and best practices while ensuring thorough documentation and compliance with industry standards.
Core Responsibilities: Develop and maintain the
Configuration Management Plan , ensuring compliance with project requirements. Recommend and implement approved
Change, Release, and Configuration Management tools
to optimize workflows. Oversee the enforcement of configuration management processes, ensuring adherence to defined standards and procedures. Administer and track software
baselines and changes , ensuring accuracy and consistency. Perform software breakdowns for
Test Objects
and create/maintain them within the appropriate systems. Identify, report, and troubleshoot software integration issues, providing critical information to Product Owners for resolution. Ensure proper identification and documentation of systems, revisions, and configurations. Enforce adherence to
naming conventions
and proper storage of configuration items. Participate in
System Specification Baseline Release
and
Release Board
meetings, contributing to configuration decisions. Facilitate the creation and validation of
Release Notes
in collaboration with Component Owners. Administer various
Change Records , tracking their progress and implementation across the development lifecycle. Provide
configuration status accounting , tracking document approvals, system definitions, and implementation status. Chair or facilitate
Change Control Board (CCB)
meetings, ensuring effective management of changes and releases. Job Requirements:
Proven experience in
software configuration management (SCM)
within embedded systems development. Strong understanding of
version control tools
such as
Git, SVN, Perforce , and build automation systems. Familiarity with
vehicle electrical and electronic architectures , including software and hardware integration processes. Experience with industry standards and regulatory compliance frameworks such as
ISO 26262, ASPICE, and AUTOSAR. Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and documentation. Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset to work effectively within cross-functional teams. Proficiency in
C/C++, Python , and embedded system development concepts is a plus. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and ensure successful project execution.
