External candidates only, some restrictions apply.Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced and passionate RN Department Manager for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to join our esteemed partner, a leading medical center in Downey, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a specialized team, drive clinical excellence, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to the most vulnerable patients.Position SummaryThe RN Department Manager for the NICU is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the unit. This includes overseeing daily operations, managing clinical nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, promoting patient safety, and fostering a collaborative, culturally sensitive environment. You will play a key role in departmental planning, budgeting, quality improvement, and ensuring adherence to the Nurse Practice Act, TJC standards, and other relevant regulations.Basic Qualifications Experience: Minimum five (5) years of relevant clinical nursing experience. Minimum three (3) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience. (Leadership experience definition applies for internal applicants) . Education: Academic degree in nursing (Bachelor's or Master's) required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN and National Health/Nursing Administration Certification OR MSN required (as facility is CCS certified or desires certification). License, Certification, Registration: Active Registered Nurse License in California. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications Experience: Five (5) years of Level III NICU clinical nursing experience. Three (3) years of NICU management experience. Previous experience with electronic medical records (EMR). Education: Master's degree (MSN) preferred. License, Certification, Registration: RN Certified in Neonatal Intensive Care (RNC-NIC) required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required. Additional Requirements In-depth knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, TJC standards, and other local, state, and federal regulations. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and management skills. Proven ability to provide superior and culturally sensitive service.
