Lincoln Center Theater has produced over 200 plays and musicals at the Vivian Beaumont, Mitzi E. Newhouse, and Claire Tow Theaters at Lincoln Center and other theaters on and off-Broadway, as well as touring productions nationally and around the world. LCT is committed to developing and producing new works and classics with an emphasis on the work of new and emerging playwrights, directors, and designers. LCT's education program, Open Stages, reaches thousands of public-school students annually with curriculum-related projects, teaching artist support, and tickets to LCT productions.

Position Summary:

The Mitzi Newhouse House Manager is responsible for ensuring a welcoming, safe, and smooth front-of-house experience for all patrons, staff, and artists during performances and events. This individual acts as the primary liaison between the front-of-house, box office, and backstage teams during showtimes and oversees audience services to uphold the theater's reputation for excellent customer experience. The role will report to the Managing Director and will manage all Newhouse ushers.

Responsibilities:

Patron Experience & Front-of-House Operations: Greet and assist patrons, ensuring a positive and professional experience from arrival to departure. Manage the lobby and theater space before, during, and after performances. Resolve customer service issues or patron concerns promptly and professionally. Coordinate late seating and manage house entrance procedures in collaboration with stage management. Assist with merchandise sales, special events, and concessions (if applicable). Monitor inventory of front-of-house supplies and request reorders as needed. Staff Supervision: Train, schedule and supervise ushers, and other front-of-house personnel. Ensure FOH staff are prepared for performance needs and emergency protocols. Prepare and maintain payroll for all front of house personnel, including house crew members. Safety & Accessibility: Enforce fire code regulations and ADA accessibility accommodations. Be the point of contact for any in-theater emergencies or evacuations. Maintain cleanliness and safety of public areas. Coordination & Communication: Communicate with box office, production, company, and stage management teams about show timing, seating holds, special accommodations, and audience issues. Submit house reports detailing audience attendance, incidents, and front-of-house notes after each performance. Skills and Qualifications:

Prior experience as a house manager, usher supervisor, or in a similar front-of-house role-preferably in a theater or live performance venue. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Calm under pressure, professional, and tactful in challenging situations. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Strong Excel and/or payroll computational skills. Familiarity with Checks & Balances payroll system is a plus. Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., Tessitura) is a plus. CPR/First Aid certification a plus (or willingness to obtain). Passion for theater and commitment to excellent audience service.

Compensation: This position will be paid in accordance with an ATPAM (Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers) contract for Off-Broadway Front of House Manager. The House Manager will be paid full-time salary and corresponding union benefits. This position is for the run of the show KYOTO, and AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS (with a start date of Aug. 19, 2025).
