Typical Tasks: Perform "Typical Tasks" of Survey Aide II at a high proficiency level. Operates surveying instruments for training or relief purposes. Aide in the performance of field and office surveys using current methodologies. Records measurement data and makes arithmetic computations. Prepares water service checklist and exhibit, including researching, locating and recording data. Prepares compiled water meter data into deliverable format for engineering use. Performs basic cad drafting duties such as survey data processing, translating codes...etc. Aide in the research of property record information for record of surveys, tract maps, parcel maps, deeds, as-built, etc., using internet, engineering software and agency databases. Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and two (2) years' experience in engineering/surveying office or field work; or equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college; and one (1) years' experience in engineering office or field work; or minimum three (3) years' experience as a Survey Aide II or demonstrated proficiency in required areas of responsibility. Possession of a valid California driver's license and good driving record. Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written procedures. General knowledge & usage of computer programs (MS Word, Excel). Ability to perform basic mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. General knowledge of electronic and manual surveying, surveying office software, surveying procedures and various surveying equipment. Effectively communicate both orally and in writing. General knowledge of electronic CAD drafting methods and software. Ability to use manual tools such as a shovel, pick, meter hook, measuring tape, hammer, etc. Special Physical Requirements:
Stamina to stand and walk for long periods of time. Agility to climb ladders, walk on construction planks, and move safely in construction sites. Strength to carry surveying equipment. Visual acuity to see flags and markers and to read plans and maps.
