TEMPORARY, HEAP Support Specialist
(Home Energy Assistance Program)
TEMP role, August - May
To help Mainers stay safe and warm, the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), provides money to help eligible homeowners and renters in Cumberland County pay for a portion of their annual heating expenses.
The HEAP Support Specialist is an administrative position for the HEAP program. This position contributes to the accomplishment of The Opportunity Alliance mission through provision of administrative and technical functions of program process and project workflow from client intake through delivery of program services.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hour/week, hourly position.
M-F, regular business hours.
*** This is a temporary position that will work for a 9 month period between August - May, 2026.
Location: Portland, ME.
This position will be fully onsite.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. 1+ year of experience in an office setting where client contact was a responsibility preferred. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of community resources. Demonstrated computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel. Ability to operate photocopier, fax and multi-line phone. Confidentiality of client information. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check. Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list. Normal office conditions such as sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and lifting up to 10 pounds. Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primary and essential job responsibility. Who we are
