Job Summary

This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package.

The Operations & Development Assistant supports the Big Yard Foundation's operational, development, and programmatic efforts with a focus on organization, donor relations, and youth programming. This hybrid position includes 1-2 in-person meetings per week and remote work managed through Zoom and digital platforms. Role reports to the Operations Manager and receives additional guidance and support from the CEO. Reports on-campus to Moreau Center Program Manager, Clare Kennedy. Through structured weekly check-ins and clear deliverables, the role is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector while contributing to Big Yard's impact.

Availability requirements: Wednesday 10 AM-12 PM OR 12 PM-2 PM PST , Thursday 10 AM-12 PM OR 12 PM-2 PM PST.

Note:

Student may not earn more than $2,000 total in this position, which equates to 118 hours worked between Fall and Spring semester.

Core Duties Support donor stewardship by drafting thank-you emails, managing mailings, and preparing outreach materials for sponsors and grantors. Research and log new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsors, and partner leads, and help maintain the grant tracker. Assist in the planning and execution of mentorship programming, including scheduling, tracking participation, and gathering feedback. Build monthly newsletters and communication pieces by gathering media, drafting content, and collaborating with the creative team. Minimum Qualifications

Must have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package (contact finaid@up.edu with questions) Must have high attention to detail and problem solving ability. Must be available for in-person meetings at the downtown St. Johns office Must be effective with Google workspace Preferred Qualifications

Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks Reliable, proactive, and eager to learn and contribute to a mission-driven team Physical Requirements

Will need to be able to walk up and down stairs at the office.
