Lane also specializes in tunnels, metro and railway systems, as well as airports and water and wastewater treatment plants Vice President - Tunneling Location: United States Department: Construction / Infrastructure Reports To: Chief Operating Officer or President Position Summary The Vice President of Tunneling is a senior executive responsible for leading all aspects of tunneling operations within a construction or infrastructure company. This includes strategic planning, project execution, safety compliance, financial oversight, and team leadership for large-scale tunneling and underground infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the tunneling division's strategic vision aligned with corporate goals.

Lead planning, design, and execution of tunneling projects, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Direct and mentor project managers, engineers, and field teams; build high-performing teams and succession plans.

Oversee budgets, forecasts, and P&L for tunneling operations; ensure profitability and cost control.

Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies; ensure adherence to OSHA, environmental, and tunneling-specific regulations.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and joint venture partners.

Promote the use of advanced tunneling technologies (e.g., TBMs, NATM, BIM) and sustainable construction practices.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

15+ years of experience in tunneling or heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Proven track record of delivering complex tunneling projects (e.g., subway, sewer, utility tunnels).

Deep knowledge of tunneling methods (TBM, cut-and-cover, microtunneling, etc.).

Strong understanding of contract negotiation, risk management, and regulatory frameworks.

Preferred Certifications Professional Engineer (PE) license

PMP or CCM certification

OSHA 30-Hour Certification

Soft Skills Executive-level leadership and communication

Strategic thinking and problem-solving

Negotiation and conflict resolution

Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
