Senior Systems Administrator Job Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure & Systems Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and hardware infrastructure to ensure optimal system performance. Manage system updates, security patches, and hardware upgrades for various IT systems and platforms. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring system availability. Network & System Monitoring:
Continuously monitor system performance, including servers, storage, and network resources. Proactively identify and address potential system vulnerabilities or performance bottlenecks. Implement and maintain system monitoring tools to provide alerts and data for performance improvement. Security & Data Protection:
Lead the efforts to implement and maintain security protocols, ensuring the safety and integrity of company data. Manage user access controls, permissions, and security measures to prevent unauthorized access to systems. Perform routine system backups and disaster recovery procedures to protect against data loss. Collaboration & Leadership:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior systems administrators and IT staff. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their technology needs and provide system solutions that enhance productivity and efficiency. Assist in defining IT best practices and developing internal policies related to system management and security. IT Strategy & System Upgrades:
Contribute to the planning and implementation of IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades and migrations. Research and recommend new technologies to improve system performance, scalability, and security. Document system configurations, network architecture, and procedures for future reference and training. Requirements
Education, Licensure & Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus. Skills & Experience:
Proven experience (8+ years) in system administration, network management, and infrastructure administration. Strong knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Windows Server, etc.), virtualization, and cloud platforms. Experience with firewalls, routing protocols, and networking equipment. Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong understanding of data security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery processes.
