Job Description: ITEC is seeking an experienced Linux/VMware System Administrator to support large scale systems in a 24x7 environment. Primary duties include Tier 1 and 2 support to bare-metal and virtualized LINUX nodes running on TCP/IP based networks. The candidate will work with the IT team to provide troubleshooting support to IT systems with hardware and software components; monitor the health and configuration of numerous IT systems, implement cyber security configurations; and upgrade/modify system hardware and operating system configurations. Candidates must be able to learn quickly, be a team player, have good communication and troubleshooting skills, and possess the discipline to work independently or unsupervised when necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain computer configurations and performance in a VMware virtual environment. Perform Operating System, and hardware troubleshooting in bare-metal and virtual environments. Work with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot and support systems in a 24x7 operating environment. Provide IT support to new system developments and system upgrades. Perform system backups and maintain system reconstitution capabilities and procedures. Develop and implement scripts to monitor, improve and/or automate system performance and maintainability. Maintain system documentation, configuration documents, user guides and troubleshooting procedures. Required Skills:
Hands on administrative experience with VMware virtual technologies, computing environments, and tools. System administration experience with Linux systems. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues. Must have a current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g. Security +). Desired Skills:
VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA) or Certified Professional (VCP). C++, Perl and/or Python development experience. Windows System Administration experience. Experience with Atlassian products (Bitbucket, Jira, & Confluence). Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLite3, and Oracle databases.
