Overview
SR. POSTGRESQL DATABASE ARCHITECT (AR/PA IT):
Bowhead seeks a Sr. PostgreSQL Database Architect to join our team supporting the AR/PA IT Program at Naval Surface Warfare Center - Corona in Corona, California. The Sr. PostgreSQL Database Architect will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and lead or collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program analysts within an agile environment. They will also participate in performance tuning, data integrity and optimizing database performance and efficient data management. They will report to the Program Manager of the Task Order. They will consider overall project design including cost, schedule, and social issues that may be associated with a project.
Responsibilities
Maintain and optimize PostgreSQL databases for performance, stability, and security.
Perform database tuning, query optimization, and schema design.
Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting solutions.
Coordinate and perform database backups, recovery, and archival.
Conduct regular database maintenance tasks to ensure top performance.
Collaborate with development teams to design and review database schemas and queries.
Create and maintain documentation related to database environments and processes.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in database management.
Qualifications Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or higher required)
Must hold CompTIA Security+ (CE) certification
Seven (7+) years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing PostgreSQL databases in enterprise or government environments
Expert knowledge of database architecture, data modeling, indexing, and query optimization
Experience with database security controls, backup and disaster recovery planning
Proficient in PostgreSQL replication, partitioning, and performance tuning
Experience with cloud-based PostgreSQL (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL)
Familiarity with STIGs and DoD security hardening requirements
Ability to lead architecture reviews, data governance discussions, and integration with other platforms
Strong documentation and communication skills
Strong skills in data cleaning, refinement, and preparation for analysis and modeling
Proven experience in building and implementing predictive analytics models
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate and implement creative solutions
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality results
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
