Senior Network Engineer

to join our dynamic team supporting a high-profile DOD contract. The I3TS program is dedicated to transforming and innovating the IT services and capabilities provided to DTRA's internal and external mission partners. As a Senior Network Engineer/Architect, you will have a critical role in maintaining and modernizing our infrastructure while leading efforts in tech requirements definition, feasibility studies, pilot projects, and implementation plans. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing and troubleshooting outages and monitoring network performance, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place. Primary Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate the work of Tier I-III network operations engineering personnel for effective troubleshooting. Oversee real-time monitoring of global enterprise networks using DOD-approved tools such as SolarWinds, NetOps, Splunk, and ACAS. Develop and enforce operational procedures, incident response workflows, and escalation protocols. Act as the senior technical point of contact for major outages, network events, or cybersecurity incidents. Engage with mission partners, DISA, Joint Forces, and Combatant Commands regarding network status, issues, and operational impacts. Ensure compliance with configuration management (CM) and DoD Change Advisory Board (CAB) procedures for all network changes. Prepare and present operational briefs, after-action reports (AARs), and executive summaries to senior leadership. Plan and design secure network solutions to enhance enterprise connectivity services. Design secure wide area connections, focusing on performance, quality of service, security, and mission requirements. Provide secure access solutions that leverage both wired and wireless technologies. Integrate capacity planning into the design of network and security stack solutions. Identify network optimization strategies to meet capacity and performance standards. Develop strategies for transitioning legacy service paths while balancing security and maintainability. Support the development of IP addressing schemes across both IPv4 and IPv6. Collaborate with information assurance teams to ensure compliance with DoD standards. Work across infrastructure elements such as networking, security, storage, virtualization, and servers. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience. Possess a network certification that meets or exceeds CCNA (or comparable vendor certification). Hold an active DoD IAT Level II certification (such as Security+) prior to start. Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret. Experience documenting designs using tools like Visio or PowerPoint. Proficient in conducting technical troubleshooting. Experience performing site surveys and analyzing associated data. Created or executed migration plans for moving network services between environments. Broad exposure to IT infrastructure networking in LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, and security protocols. Experience with vendor technologies including Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, and others. Proven track record in designing medium to large network infrastructures. Strong team player who excels in resolving complex network issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with both technical and executive leadership. Preferred Qualifications: CCNP certification or equivalent. Experience with enterprise network management tools. Hands-on expertise in WAN, LAN, and telecommunications. Demonstrated ability in designing complex and geographically dispersed enterprise networks. Familiarity with DoD security requirements for network infrastructure. Experience in system hardening and implementation of security protocols. Knowledge of reporting and business applications. $112,450.00 - $203,275.00 Leidos considers various factors in determining pay, including responsibilities, education, experience, and market data.
