Job Title:
Senior Piping Designer / Business Development Specialist (Remote)
Location:
Preferred: Remote, but based out of Houston, TX or Chicago, IL (other strategic hubs considered based on fit)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, relationship-focused Senior Piping Designer to help us expand our piping design services into a key regional market. This unique role combines hands-on piping design expertise with strategic client development-bringing technical credibility, problem-solving capabilities, and trusted relationships to every interaction.
You'll be backed by our core team of process, mechanical, and piping designers while taking the lead on piping design projects and developing new client relationships. Your role is to help manufacturers navigate complex piping design challenges-not through aggressive sales-but by being a credible, technical partner they can rely on for superior design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead piping design projects
from concept through completion using industry-standard software and practices Build and manage client relationships
focused on piping design services in your region Scope and manage piping design projects
using internal support teams Identify business opportunities
specifically related to piping design needs and align them with internal and external capabilities Serve as a trusted technical advisor
for piping design challenges, not just a vendor Attend site visits, client meetings, and industry events
to build relationships and assess project needs Mentor junior designers
and contribute to overall team technical capabilities Technical Qualifications:
15+ years of experience
in piping design for industrial, chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing facilities Proficiency in industry-standard software
(AutoCAD, Plant 3D, PDMS, E3D, or similar) Strong understanding
of piping codes, standards, and best practices (ASME B31.3, etc.) Experience with P&IDs, isometrics, piping layouts, and support design Hands-on project management
and customer-facing experience in consulting environment Business Development Qualifications:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Regional knowledge
of manufacturing and industrial markets Proven track record
of building lasting professional relationships Comfort with consultative selling
approach focused on technical solutions Ideal Traits:
