Summary

The Technical Product Owner drives high-impact initiatives with significant technical complexity, serving as a cross-functional lead in systems planning, backend design, and infrastructure scaling. This role translates strategic business needs into actionable product stories that align with technical architecture, ensuring feasibility, performance, and scalability. The Technical Product Owner partners closely with Product Development and other departments to lead technically demanding projects from discovery through delivery with minimal oversight.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions Lead the definition and prioritization of the technical product backlog for complex platform, API, or infrastructure-related initiatives. Translate strategic goals and technical constraints into actionable stories with clear acceptance criteria. Work directly with software architects and Sr. Engineers to align product stories with architectural patterns and system design. Own pre-sprint planning for technical initiatives, proactively coordinating dependencies across multiple teams. Represent product and user perspective during backend design decisions and solutioning workshops. Actively lead sprint ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and architecture syncs. Review and validate delivery outcomes against technical acceptance criteria and scalability goals. Engagement with organization to ensure new and technical product releases / deployments are well documented with training, communication on operational impacts and measurable product performance KPIs. Additional Responsibilities
Support platform modernization, re-architecture, or shared services efforts through backlog leadership. Document technical risks and raise architectural concerns during early discovery. Work with Product Owners on technical best practices and stakeholder communication. Coordinate with QA and DevOps on test coverage, CI/CD alignment, and deployment planning. Participate in security reviews and operational readiness for large-scale launches. Other duties as assigned. Requirements
Exceptional communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences. Strong analytical skills with the ability to lead through ambiguity. Strategic thinker with tactical delivery experience. Proactive collaborator who drives clarity and decision-making. Organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed. This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule. Up to three days a week may be worked from home in accordance with the telecommuting policy. Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Product Management, or a related field is preferred. 3-5 years of experience in a product management or technical product ownership role. Demonstrated success leading technically complex product initiatives. Proficient in Agile methodologies, backlog grooming, and product delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence). Working knowledge of APIs, databases, system architecture, and secure development practices.
