Position Overview

The Information Security Analyst for Identity and Access Management ("Analyst") will manage the operational aspects of the cybersecurity vulnerability remediation program for Butler University. This position reports to the Chief Information Security Officer. The Analyst plans, implements and monitors security measures to protect Butler's technology systems (with a primary focus on identity and access management systems and architecture) from cyber-related risks including, but not limited to, malware, ransomware, hacking, intrusion, infiltration, natural disasters and other external/internal threats. The Analyst collaborates with system architects to embed best practice security controls into system design. This position will oversee the administration of Butler's identity and access management systems including account creation/maintenance/deletion, SSO/MFA, and other identity frameworks. The Analyst will perform assessments of systems and networks within the university and identify where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable best-practice configurations, institutional policy, or local policy. Measuring the effectiveness of defense-in-depth architecture against known vulnerabilities, this individual will work closely with Butler's outsourced SIEM/SOC provider to remediate vulnerabilities.

Butler University will not provide sponsorship for this position. This is also a Hybrid Position with need to be on campus frequently.

Responsibilities Technical subject matter expert for implementing security controls in consultation with the Infrastructure and Applications teams related to identity management. System administration of key security technologies including identity management systems, authentication/authorization systems (including multifactor authentication), account creation/maintenance/deletion processes, and data loss prevention Secondary administration responsibility for risk/vulnerability management systems including email security, password management, DLP, and managed SOC/SIEM. Works with Butler's Security Operations Center to lead projects that increase the overall security posture of the University Identifying, monitoring, and defining the requirements for the overall security of Butler systems Determining, recommending, and implementing the latest technologies and processes that will improve the overall security profile of Butler Identifying systemic security issues based on the analysis of vulnerability and configuration data and tracking the remediation of those issues Leveraging reports and dashboards provided by SIEM/SOC provider to find and mitigate vulnerabilities Determining, recommending, and implementing the latest technologies and processes that will improve the overall security profile of Butler Applying cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation) Investigating cybersecurity incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out investigations. Monitoring compliance of staff/faculty/students with ongoing cybersecurity training obligations Informing IT executive management about security incidents as soon as possible Developing innovative ways to identify and remediate existing threats and security issues. Working with the IT Security team to define and maintain security policies. Performing administrative and other requests (expense reports, month-end reports, etc.) as needed. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in technology vulnerability and risk management 2+ years of IT cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, application security or related experience required Scripting/coding experience, preferably with a focus on process automation (Python) The ability to visualize, articulate, conceptualize or solve both complex and noncomplex problems Good reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are essential to convey information in a clear and simple manner Ability to balance cybersecurity considerations with real-world business processes Broad knowledge of IT systems and business analyst processes Preferred Qualifications

2+years in a Security Analyst role or equivalent Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Cybersecurity or other technology-related field preferred Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security +, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CCNP Security (Cisco Certified Network Professional Security), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) certification or GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification) preferred Proficiency in a programming or scripting language preferred 2+ years' experience in a higher education environment preferred Leadership and/or project management experience Experience with providing support for enterprise -level application systems, experience with vendor management Proven experience participating in large IT cybersecurity projects with several team members across several functional towers Butler University will not provide sponsorship for this position.
