Position Overview
Butler University seeks a Billing Specialist to provide medical coding in our Primary Care Medical office, In accordance with legal requirements, compliance standards, official coding rules, conventions and definitions. Position works on a varied schedule Monday -Friday but may include some evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities
- Analyze codes and procedure information
- Knowledge of coding standards
- Independent decision making and critical
- Maintaining thorough documentation in an electronic medical record and billing systems
- Assurance of compliance and integrity of billing process
- Coordination and oversight of the Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP)
- Experience in medical coding with supporting training
- Maintain compliance with established coding guidelines, third part reimbursement policies, federal and state regulations
- Input ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding and/or coding/chart review for clean claim and reimbursement
- Knowledge and experience on the entire revenue cycle of claim submission, posting and appeals
- Advanced knowledge of financial reports and use of excel for business analysis
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Able to multi-task and maintain positive attitude in fast paced environment
- Conscientious to complete timely follow up and maintain business standard guidelines
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Experience in higher education beneficial
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Must work in highly confidential environment with a strong knowledge of HIPPA guidelines
