JOB SUMMARY:

The DevOps Engineer leads the design, implementation, and automation of data-pipeline build and deployment processes. This role applies DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices to enable rapid, reliable delivery of data products, ensuring consistency across development, test, and production environments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and implement data-focused DevOps strategies that align with organizational goals and incorporate both traditional data management and advanced analytics needs. Apply industry best practices in CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), guided by DataOps and Lean principles. Build and deploy automated solutions to streamline data pipeline operations and increase delivery speed and reliability. Develop and maintain IaC for both cloud-based and on-premises environments to ensure consistent, repeatable infrastructure deployment. Embed robust version control, configuration management, and automated testing within CI/CD pipelines. Monitoring and Observability: Establish real-time monitoring and observability systems for data platforms to quickly detect and resolve issues. Develop proactive incident response and recovery mechanisms, leveraging methods like Statistical Process Control (SPC) for operational stability. Track and optimize DevOps process performance to ensure high availability and reliability of data systems. Partner with data engineering, IT operations, and business stakeholders to embed DevOps practices across the data lifecycle. Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders to support effective deployment and continuous delivery of data products. Design flexible, scalable CI/CD pipelines that support AI/ML, data science, and other advanced analytics initiatives. Incorporate automated testing, continuous monitoring, and metadata capture to maintain high-quality data flows. Assist in selecting and managing DevOps tools and third-party vendors to support evolving infrastructure and pipeline needs. Foster a culture of innovation by integrating Lean and DataOps practices, staying current with industry trends, and identifying opportunities for operational enhancement. Perform other job-related functions as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS

DEGREE TYPE:

Bachelor's Degree

FIELD(S) OF STUDY:

Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years' experience in DevOps, infrastructure management, and automation within data engineering or related fields. Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar. Proven experience in supporting traditional data management functions while incorporating requirements for advanced analytics. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Experience working with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and managing both cloud and on-premises infrastructures. COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

In-depth understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD, automation, and cloud-native architectures. Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible). Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective decision-making under pressure. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices. Understanding of advanced analytics workflows and the ability to design deployment pipelines that support requirements for AI, ML, and Data Science.
