General Summary : This is a one-year position for the 2025-2026 school year; there is no assurance of continuation beyond that period. The Administrative Intern is a teacher on special administrative assignments in WCS elementary schools. Upon completion of the internship, the teacher will be reassigned to a teaching position within the Corporation, though the reassignment may not be to the teaching position previously held by the teacher.
Requirements : Candidates must be currently enrolled in an administrative program or already hold an administrative license.
Reports To : Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer, Chief Accountability Officer, Director of Human Resources
Overview : WCS is committed to cultivating effective school leaders. The Administrative Intern provides a unique opportunity for a teacher to experience administrative responsibilities. The Administrative Intern will be assigned to a specific school(s), and the assignment may change based on needs. A check-in schedule will be established to monitor the internship schedule and the success of the assignments.
Essential Functions : At the direction of the District Office, the Administrative Intern will assume various administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to the following: Understand and contribute to the elementary schools' educational programs. Participate and lead Professional Learning Communities for school improvement. Collaborate with school leaders and department leaders to gather information and insights for continuous improvement. Attend department meetings to support the improvement of instructional practices aligned with school initiatives. Support the development and improvement of staff performance. Maintain high expectations for self and others and model positive work habits and behaviors. Foster positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and the community. Engage in professional growth activities and contribute to the efficient management of resources. Coordinate and participate in school programs and activities, ensuring alignment with overall school needs. Establish effective procedures for student discipline during school hours and during school-sponsored activities. Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community. Maintain confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual. Perform other duties as assigned by the District Office or the school principal. Internship Activities : Throughout the internship, the Administrative Intern will participate in the following activities:
Attend monthly administrative meetings to collaborate with elementary and secondary principals. Attend job recruitment fairs to assist with the ongoing recruitment and management of staff. Attend the Indiana School Safety Specialist Academy to understand best practices in school safety. Complete Case Conference Chairperson training to develop the knowledge and skills needed to chair special education case conferences.
