Position: Systems Architect III
Location: Madison, WI (95% REMOTE -
1-2 Days/Month Onsite ) Duration: 12+ Months Contract
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking a
Systems Architect
III
to develop innovative solutions within a diverse enterprise environment that utilizes multiple
cloud services
and
on-premises infrastructure components .
The ideal candidate will:
Possess expert-level troubleshooting skills to analyze current technologies and determine improvements for performance and stability. Have strong collaboration skills with IT professionals to ensure proper infrastructure design, delivery, and maintenance. Lead and provide subject matter expertise for backend systems supporting application development,
security, integrations, and desktop infrastructure. Direct a small technical team in completing tasks, providing operational support, and documenting processes. Serve as a technical lead for backend infrastructure services, including Microsoft Services
(Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy, Client, Azure subscriptions, DHCP, networking, etc.). Provide third-level support for
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), multi-factor authentication, storage, backup, PowerShell scripting, and other off-the-shelf applications.
The selected candidate will work closely with project managers and leadership to define project goals, identify subject matter experts, implement best practices, and ensure proper execution.
REQUIRED SKILLS: MUST HAVE
VMWare and VDI:
Analyze and recommend solutions to improve performance, stability, and cost savings. (10+ years) Project Leadership : Lead system implementations, set goals, provide technical guidance, and ensure best practices. (10+ years) Microsoft
Windows Server Administration : Active Directory, Group Policy, Client, DHCP, DNS, and agency-managed application servers. (10+ years) Certificate Management : Creation, support, and maintenance of certificates for core systems and third-party integrations. (7+ years)
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
MS Visio: Infrastructure documentation for complex systems. (7+ years) LDAP Configuration (7+ years) Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Services (5+ years) MS Office 365 (Teams, email, other services) (3+ years) System Administration for MS Azure Subscriptions (3+ years)
EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate must provide their equipment for remote work. Minimum technical requirements: Windows 10 / MacOS (10.14 or later) Memory: Minimum 4GB, preferred 8GB+ Processor: 2GHz or faster Network: 20 Mbps down / 5 Mbps up (wired connection required) Full audio/video conferencing capabilities (camera and headset) Latest VMware Horizon Client installed
