Summary Clallam County is seeking candidates for a position as a Juvenile Corrections Officer. This position performs all assigned activities in the receipt, booking, custody and care of juveniles under jurisdiction of the Court in accordance with established policies and procedures, while assuring the fair and reasonable treatment of inmates and maintenance of proper discipline. Individuals in this classification will normally be those who have no previous juvenile detention experience, or their level of capability is unknown, and will be considered in training to learn specific policies, procedures and operating practices of the Youth Services Center. Work is performed under close initial direction of employee of higher classification until proficiency has been demonstrated.
Individuals assigned to this classification are normally assigned to a designated shift but may be called out at any time to respond to abnormal facility incidents or situations, and are expected to perform conscientiously, proficiently and independently any and all activities related to operation of the Youth Services Center.
Education/Training High school diploma or GED Certificate required. AA degree in related field preferred (combination of training or experience satisfactory to the Director of Juvenile Services may be substituted for the AA degree); Ability to obtain Washington State Juvenile Corrections Personnel Academy Certification within six (6) months from date of employment as Juvenile Detention Officer.

Sick Leave:
Full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 8 hours per month. Eligibility for use of sick leave is established after one month of continuous employment.
** Part-time employee's benefit contributions and leave accruals are prorated.
