Summary

Salary Information
The compensation for this position ranges from $27.00 (Starting Wage) to $33.12 (Top Wage) per hour. This salary structure is based on the County's 9-step pay scale.
Description
Individuals will be responsible for servicing and maintaining a wide range of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including automobiles, trucks, heavy machinery, and specialized tools. Typical duties include diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, overhauling engines and transmissions, and fabricating or modifying parts as needed. The role also involves interacting with vendors for parts procurement, maintaining detailed service records, and adhering to safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to prioritize and coordinate repairs, and a commitment to maintaining equipment at peak performance. Education/Training
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in diesel or gasoline mechanics or a related field preferred.
Experience
Five years' experience as a journey level equipment mechanic and/or demonstrated successful completion of an apprenticeship program for mechanics with relative experience, or five years satisfactory experience in the Fleet Mechanic I and II progression within the Clallam County ER&R career ladder.
