to our team at our Hauling location in
Norfolk, VA . If you are passionate about safety and enjoy working in a dynamic environment, we want to hear from you! Experience in the waste management industry is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate! DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Safely operate a garbage truck along specified routes to efficiently collect solid waste.
Read route sheets accurately to service each customer assigned by the dispatcher.
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, ensuring fluids, safety equipment, and tires are in optimal condition.
Handle physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading refuse, often without assistance.
Utilize hydraulic hand controls to lift, load, and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
Engage courteously with customers and perform other job-related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
Work environment may involve exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts, necessitating adherence to basic safety precautions.
Outdoor work in various weather conditions, including frequent exposure to wet, humid conditions, fumes, and vibrations, with moderate noise levels.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement.
A minimum of 2 years of work experience, ideally in a driving capacity, with a stable work history.
Must be able and willing to lift 50+ pounds.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
