What We Are Looking For:
Our Autonomous Solutions Engineering team is looking for a
Controls Engineer
to join our highly innovative engineering teams designing Autonomous Solutions for mobile equipment in the surface mining industry. As a
Controls Engineer
you will develop sophisticated control systems for Autonomous Solutions products. Day to day activities include programming PLCs, creating functional/technical specifications, and mentoring other engineers. You will have the opportunity to grow your career and gain exposure to complex automation products. This role is based at the FLANDERS Innovation Technology & Training Center in Carmel, IN.
What You Will Do:
• Design, develop, and test new control systems for Autonomous Solutions products from start to finish
• Use agile/kanban methodologies to complete tasks on time and on budget
• Evaluate emerging technologies for enhancing Autonomous Solutions products
• Develop, maintain, and enforce coding standards and processes
• Create functional, technical, and other detailed specifications for new products and enhancements
• Ensure control systems operate safely and efficiently in accordance with local standards and specifications
• Conduct code reviews to ensure new code is bug-free and meets requirements
• Attend client sites as required for commissioning, implementation, and testing of controls systems
• Work with and mentor more junior members of the team to remove roadblocks and overcome challenges
• Interface with a global team of engineers and product support resources to successfully complete tasks

Requirements
What You Will Need:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, [or] an equivalent combination of education and/or direct applicable experience
• 7+ years' experience in automation; specifically from scratch PLC programming, creating I/O maps, creating technical specifications, and new technology integration
• Previous experience with industrial and mobile equipment automation
• Prior experience with hardware such as GPS, Lidar, PLCs, PCs, and low voltage power systems
• Prior experience with Studio5000, TIA Portal, CodeSys, SQL, and MQTT
• Familiarity with the Agile execution model and methodologies
• Familiarity with Jira
• Familiar with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills - ability to explain complex defects and designs in simple high-level terms
