Job Title
Since 1966, the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) has been dedicated to providing innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective educational programs and services to meet the diverse needs of children and adults in Greater Hartford. Serving 33 member districts and reaching additional communities statewide, CREC supports approximately 12,000 students annually through more than 120 educational programs. Our offerings include professional learning and coaching for educators, specialized programming for students with diverse needs, and PreK-12 education across 16 interdistrict magnet schools. Additionally, CREC provides school construction, operations, and cooperative business services, while also delivering programs that help adults build real, job-ready skills. Position Summary
Conduct performance evaluations of individuals including but not limited to the role of Technician and Technology Specialist I. Measure and evaluate staff performance, responsiveness and efficacy of the day-to-day technical support provided to the organization. Define yearly goals for staff. Meet with staff periodically to evaluate progress on annual performance goals and objectives. Maintain and distribute weekly technician schedule. Provide technology support during periods of short staffing. Monitor ticket queues regularly to ensure tickets are being addressed in an accurate and timely manner. Follow up with technology staff regularly regarding their performance relative to handling tickets. Provide consultative support and services to the user community to ensure problem resolution, system and data access, and optimal system performance. Monitor locations to ensure that CREC Technology Services policies, procedures, and/or standards are being met or exceeded. Train and mentor IT support staff to ensure delivery of effective front-line technical support to staff and students. Work with Technology Manager and Director to identify appropriate SLA's for the delivery of technology services and support to staff and students. Complete yearly budgeting for technology software and services. Participate in yearly budgeting process as it pertains to staffing and other services such as data circuits and E-Rate. Assists with maintenance and upkeep of technology infrastructure either personally or via assigned delegates including ensuring that telecommunications rooms/closets are maintained in a clean and orderly manner, disposing of equipment that has reached the end of its useful life, and assisting CREC's network administrator with equipment maintenance and upgrades as needed. Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust and respect. Develop performance improvement plans for staff as needed. Collaborate with other departments to ensure IT support aligns with organizational goals. Manage and implement complex technology projects; assign project related activities to staff; ensure projects are completed within established timelines. Answer questions and provide information to staff, management and others. Investigate concerns pertaining to service delivery or technical operations and recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve concerns. Escalate concerns as needed to Manager, I.T. Support or Managing Director as needed. Assist technology staff in resolving technical issues as needed including but not limited to PC, laptop, server, network, and phone issues. Work with vendors as needed to resolve technical issues. Participate in and contribute to various technology related committees such as CREC's technology leadership and cybersecurity committees. Assists with business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution as needed. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems or related field and at least five years of experience working in a technology environment is preferred or a combination of education and work experience. Consistently and successfully demonstrates the ability to handle the responsibilities of a CREC Technology Specialist II or higher in CREC schools, programs and/or central office with minimal daily supervision or assistance. Advanced technical certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, etc. preferred. Brings an expert level of proficiency in leading and driving a group of individuals to provide outstanding customer service relative to resolving technical issues and or completing technical projects. Is frequently the go-to person when technology staff need assistance resolving technical issues. Has working level knowledge of information technology, network
