As the University's Chief Academic Officer, the Provost plays a critical leadership role in shaping ECSU's academic vision and advancing student success. Aboutthe Team The division of Academic Affairs provides leadership in developing and maintaining quality academic programs and support services that contribute to the achievement of the university's mission. The division strives to be recognized as a student-centered university with emphasis on excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities; commitment to total student development; and outstanding service and engagement with local, regional, national and global communities.
Aboutthe Role
The provost is responsible for: providing administrative leadership and represent the Division to external and internal stakeholders serving as a member of the Chancellor's executive team and assist the Chancellor and senior managers in achieving priority institutional objectives identified in the University's Strategic Plan leading efforts to ensure compliance with university, state, and discipline specific accreditation requirements and standards maintaining ongoing SACS compliance and specialized accreditations for all areas under supervision and compile documentation and data relating to these efforts administering the Division's budget and other allocated funds and resources to achieve its mission, goals and objectives providing visionary leadership and management of the academic units of the University. Oversee and guide the implementation of annual operational plans for the Division overseeing the systematic and routine assessment of all academic programs and services to measure and plan continuous improvement Coordinating strategic planning regarding recruitment, retention, technology infrastructures, resource allocation and operational efficiency providing leadership for dual enrollment partnerships with local and regional community colleges spearheading and supporting collaborations/ partnerships with businesses, industry and public/ private organizations spearheading the development, assessment and implementation of academic and student policies, programs and services providing leadership in preparation for commencements and other academic convocations and assemblies representing the Chancellor in official capacities as requested performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chancellor Education and Qualifications An earned doctorate from an accredited institution with at least (10) ten years of demonstrated success in teaching, administration, research, service and visionary leadership in a higher education environment as well as a record of progressive advancement, scholarly accomplishments, grantsmanship, and professional activity commensurate with an appointment as a tenured full professor in one of the academic departments. Other experience and qualifications include:
Administrative leadership experience including program planning, budget management and faculty development; effective organizational structures and practices to facilitate institutional effectiveness Experience in evaluating personnel, program assessment and improvement, and advancing a stimulating and supportive environment for teaching, research, creative performance, scholarship and service Experience in leading strategic change both within and outside a university setting to meet organizational goals; leading people toward an organization's vision, mission, and goals; demonstrating business acumen in managing human, financial, and information resources strategically; and experience in building coalitions internally and with state agencies, other government and organizations to achieve common goals; proven shared governance ability in the spirit of academic cooperation Possess knowledge of current educational methods, curricula, policies, issues and procedures; effective interpersonal and communication skills; commitment to modeling high standards of ethics, continual learning, and actions that meet public needs and interest; working in support of the Chancellor's vision, direct the transformation of academic programs with faculty engagement; motivate academic environmental change to optimize efficiency and effectiveness Possess knowledge and use of instructional technology in a higher education environment; familiarity with administrative procedures and shred decision making practices in college and university settings
