POSITION DESCRIPTION
The individual hired for this position will serve in the role of Deputy Program Manager I for HGLs U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division clients. The primary role is to support the Program Manager and other related team members within the program to assist with the development, capture, award, and successful execution of projects within the
Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Albuquerque
District footprints. The Deputy Program Manager I is responsible for successful execution of assigned tasks and responsibilities related to the program and must be able to handle a variety of projects at one time while managing risk and performance expectations. The Program Manager I can sit in either Sacramento, CA or Phoenix, AZ. If in Sacramento, this role would work remotely out of a home office. If based in Phoenix, the role would work hybrid in-office. Responsibilities/Duties WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The person hired for this role will be responsible for: Supporting the management of critical projects and proposals until sufficient work exists within the SPD to hire additional PMs. Participating in business development efforts including identifying and qualifying follow-on or new contract opportunities. Assisting with the execution of projects to meet safety, quality, financial, and schedule targets. Collaborating with project teams to ensure appropriate training and resource assignment. Participating in program reviews and follow-ups with clients regarding program performance. Identifying and assessing potential risks and contributing to mitigation planning. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of innovation. Communicating effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management. Required Skills WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role: Prior client management experience with government clients. Minimum 5 years of experience executing and managing investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA and RCRA, including oversight of project teams, management of budget, schedule, safety, quality, technical performance, and customer satisfaction. Proven experience directing, managing, and leading project teams. Ability to lead, mentor, and hold PMs accountable to high performance. Demonstrated performance in financial management and risk mitigation strategies. BA/BS in Engineering, Science, or a related academic field. (MA/MS in a related field may decrease the years of experience required). Excellent time management and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and keep organized to ensure timely and accurate work. Ability to build consensus among leadership, internal, and external stakeholders through effective interpersonal communication and relationship building skills. The successful candidate will show directly relevant experience that demonstrates a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation, and creative problem solving. The successful candidate will show directly relevant experience working with USACE-Sacramento District or other districts within the USACE-South Pacific Division. Preferred Skills WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT Preferred, not required PE, PG, and/or PMP certifications. Experience with investigation and/or remediation of PFAS impacted sites.
