Supervising Fisheries Biologist/Senior Project Manager

to join our Natural Resources team. This role supports aquatic resource projects across California, managing fisheries-focused projects, supervising technical staff, overseeing workflow, and ensuring high-quality project delivery. The position involves collaboration with peers, junior staff, clients, and regulatory agencies on complex efforts. Preferred locations include Oakland, Monterey, Sacramento, or San Luis Obispo, with other California locations considered.

We prioritize hiring within 50 miles of a Rincon office, including Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Work

Prepare high-quality technical studies and QA/QC biological resource reports, CEQA/NEPA analyses, and permit applications focusing on aquatic species and habitats. Conduct fish and aquatic species surveys, habitat assessments, and impact analyses. Identify permitting strategies and develop materials for FESA Section 7 consultations, Section 10 HCPs, CESA 2081 ITPs, and other approvals. Lead development of restoration and monitoring plans for special status species. Present findings to clients and regulatory agencies. Travel as required, including overnight stays. Project Management

Oversee regulatory permitting projects, coordinating with agencies like USFWS, NMFS, CDFW, USACE, RWQCB, CCC, BCDC. Manage moderate to large projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality control. Serve as the primary contact for clients and agencies. Provide technical direction and mentorship to staff. Lead QA/QC of reports, budgets, and schedules. Business Development

Leverage relationships and conduct client outreach. Maintain and grow client accounts. Write proposals with accurate estimates. Participate in interviews and presentations. Candidate Qualifications

Minimum 8-12 years of environmental consulting experience, including technical, project management, and business development roles. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Fisheries Biology, Aquatic Ecology, or related field. Experience with fisheries projects in California, especially Bay Delta, Bay Area, and Coast. Experience with fish surveys, habitat assessments, and regulatory permitting. Knowledge of federal and state permitting and compliance. Authorized to survey and handle listed fish species. Experience developing restoration plans and supporting agency coordination. Supervisory experience supporting junior staff development.
