is seeking a

Director Manufacturing Engineering 1

to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals to lead a team of roughly 250 Manufacturing Engineers across a multitude of programs within the Aeronautics Sector.

This position will be based out of Palmdale, CA. The Director of Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership to the manufacturing engineering team, overseeing all aspects of manufacturing process development, implementation, and improvement. This includes leading initiatives related to process optimization, cost reduction, quality control, and the introduction of new manufacturing technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aerospace manufacturing, a proven track record of successful leadership, and a deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles, with experience in high-rate production of aircraft fabrication and assembly. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the manufacturing engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.

Develop and implement manufacturing strategies, processes, and procedures to optimize production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Oversee the design, development, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for manufacturing operations.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping) to eliminate waste and improve process flow.

Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of product designs into manufacturing processes.

Develop and manage the manufacturing engineering budget, ensuring effective resource allocation.

Lead the introduction and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and processes.

Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address manufacturing issues and improve product quality.

Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor manufacturing performance and identify areas for improvement.

Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technologies and processes.

This position offers 1st Shift – 9/80 with the ability to come in on weekends and work off hours as required by the business, phenomenal learning opportunities, exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, and a very friendly team environment. We are looking for self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented people to help us grow our services and become even better at what we do. Basic Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree (STEM) AND 9+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline OR a Master’s degree (STEM) AND 7+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Must have 4+ years of management or leadership experience.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrications, assembly, and testing.

Must have an active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access prior to commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and other relevant engineering tools.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Experience with specific aerospace materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., composites, titanium, additive manufacturing).

Experience with AS9100 quality management system.

Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).

Experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.

Salary Range:

$179,600 - $269,400 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
