Position Summary: Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Director, Destination Services’ primary responsibility is to oversee and coordinate the strategic and day to day planning efforts of the Destination Services team to deliver world-class, luxury shoreside programming that exceeds Residents’ expectations in “bringing the destination alive.” This position ensures the programming focuses on culture and in-depth learning, exclusive access and off-the-beaten track attractions, and one-of-a-kind experiences that enhance the Residents’ appreciation of The World’s global itinerary. The Director, Destination Services oversees a Sr. Manager, Destination Services, who is responsible for the day-to-day operation and the team’s planning of, on average, more than 100 ports per year: operational support of the onboard concierge team, and the planning of up to three expeditions per year. The Director, Destination Service oversees a Sr. Manager, Publications and a team of writers and researchers responsible for creating a wide range of marketing materials to promote Destination Experiences, including an individual guidebook for each port. Responsibilities: Destination Services Direct oversight to ensure the design and delivery of a varied, quality portfolio of bespoke customized Destination Experiences, Overland Journeys, Design Your Own Day, Design Your Own Journey, and active programming options tailored to Resident preferences. Coordinates with product development and research consultants to ensure a long-term strategy and diverse range of Destination Experiences are offered to the Community. Attends industry-related conventions and trade shows and maintains strong destination industry contacts; scouts programming opportunities in new destinations, builds relationships within regions on every level to include tourism officials and suppliers to cultivate new opportunities. Oversees the Integrated Programming Committee process and “Tapestry” team to coordinate product delivery and related operations between Ship and shore. Partners with the Director of Itinerary Planning and assigned Destination Planning Manager to plan, communicate, and execute The World’s annual expeditions including programming, budgets, and logistics. Works closely with the Director of Itinerary Planning during the itinerary planning process to provide preliminary research on Destination Experiences for consideration in upcoming itineraries. Attends itinerary planning meetings. Works closely with Sales & Marketing to highlight Destination Experiences in all marketing materials. Coordinating with the Sr. Manager Destination Services to oversee the day-to-day worldwide Destination Services operation, the team of Destination Planning Managers, the vetting and selection of shoreside programming, contract and insurance requirements, and supplier relationships. Works closely with the Sr. Manager Destination Services, to oversee the onboard operation and service levels of The World Concierge, who report to the onboard General Manager. Ensure members of the Destination Services team are cross-trained and a succession plan is in place. Publications Partners with the Sr. Manager, Publications to oversee the creation, development, and publication of a variety of educational and marketing content for the Community, via various communication channels produced by a team of writers and researchers. Works with the Publications team to ensure publication deadlines and timelines are honored. Review and grant final approval of a range of Resident-facing communications, both printed and electronic, relating to the Destination Services and Publications areas including individual guidebooks for each port. Partners with the Sr Manager, Publications to oversee a team of writers and researchers. Resident Relations Cultivates strong Resident relationships to gain an understanding of their shoreside programming preferences, leveraging this information to influence our strategic planning and decisions. Provides regular updates to Residents via all available communication channels to update the Community on future destination planning options. Responds to Resident feedback, recommendations, and suggestions. Engages with the Resident community to ensure the vision of destination services continues to evolve and exceed their expectations. Responsible for the creation of and adherence to annual shoreside Destination Services and Publications budgets. Oversees and monitors financial reporting and forecasting of said budgets on a monthly and quarterly basis. Administration & Implementations Ensure the company’s strategic plan is followed in all aspects related to Destination Services Support the implementation of new company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company initiatives as assigned by COO. Develop, implement, and monitor systems and processes that allow for accurate tracking of Destination Services department and company goals. Continuously reviews the operation and recommends enhancements and efficiencies. Partners with the destination services and concierge teams to develop Resident Satisfaction survey (RSS) action plans to maximize Resident satisfaction and enhance subsequent RSS results in Destination Services and The World Concierge departments. Implements new policies, standard operating procedures and Company initiatives as assigned. Ensures direct reports have continuous and defined set of goals. Other related duties or special projects as directed. Ship Support Visit the Ship a minimum of twice per year to provide management support and operational feedback to the Concierge team and to meet and engage with the Resident Community. Participate in the interview process for The World Concierge. Develops positive working relationships with all shipboard and shoreside departments to facilitate a team orientated high performing atmosphere. Emergency Duties This position has emergency response duties as defined in the Emergency Manual. Qualifications: BA/BS Degree or foreign equivalency required. Minimum of (5) years of experience in designing, managing, and executing diverse 5* luxury travel experiences, including expeditions, ideally for high net worth discerning clientele Prior planning experience working with worldwide deluxe Tour / Travel companies, 5* resorts or cruise ships. Excellent managerial skills, ability to lead people and provide performance management. Strong listening skills: ability to negotiate and to be persuasive using facts and figures. Must be self-motivated, assume responsibility and accountability. Ability to work independently and multi-task in high pressure and demanding situations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products or equivalent (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Budget development and cost control analysis skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills Demonstrates problem definition and resolution skills, thinks creatively. Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills. Available to work on a hybrid schedule in our Sunrise, FL office. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk; use hands to handle or operate computers, office equipment, objects, tools, or controls; and be able to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position-to-position. The employee must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading. Works primarily in an office environment. Will be expected to travel as needed.
