BE&K Building Group Position Summary The Director of Business Development – Mission Critical

is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving growth in the mission critical sector, including data centers, advanced manufacturing, cleanrooms, and high-tech infrastructure. This individual will lead efforts to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities for construction management and general contracting services. The ideal candidate brings deep industry knowledge, a strong network of client relationships, and a proven track record of success in complex, high-performance environments. This is a high-visibility, hands-on role requiring strong leadership, market insight, and the ability to collaborate across internal teams to deliver value-driven solutions to clients. This position requires exceptional interpersonal communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. A comprehensive understanding of AEC business operations and delivery methods is essential. Key Responsibilities Market Leadership:

Drive national growth in the Advanced Manufacturing sector, with a focus on mission critical facilities and clients. Strategic Prospecting:

Identify and pursue high-value opportunities through market research, networking, and outreach. Client Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, industry partners, and stakeholders. Collaboration:

Work closely with the VP of Client Growth and Strategy, regional leadership, preconstruction, and marketing teams to align business development efforts with company goals. Proposal Development:

Lead the preparation of qualifications packages and proposal responses in collaboration with marketing and technical teams. CRM Utilization:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, opportunities, and pipeline activity in the company's CRM system. Brand Representation:

Represent BE&K at industry events, trade shows, and professional associations to enhance visibility and credibility. Public Relations:

Develop and manage outreach strategies to elevate the company's presence in the advanced manufacturing market. Team Collaboration:

Support and coordinate with other business units to maximize company-wide sales opportunities. Talent Development:

Attract and recruit high-caliber talent to support business development and project execution. Minimum Qualifications Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. Experience:

10+ years of business development experience, including at least 4 years in the construction industry (GC, CM, or Design-Build). Proven success in the

Mission Critical,

Industrial and Advanced Manufacturing

sectors. Experience with

Design-Build ,

Construction Management at Risk (CMAR) , and

Qualifications-Based Selection

methods preferred.

Travel:

Willingness to travel frequently, with periods of heavy travel as needed. Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and proposal writing. Interpersonal Skills:

Strong ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organization. Self-Motivation:

Highly driven, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently. Organizational Skills:

Strong planning, prioritization, and multitasking abilities in a team-oriented environment. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift and carry office supplies and equipment up to 20 pounds.
