Summary The Director Business Development is responsible for leading the pursuit of new business and expansion/renewal opportunities. A successful candidate will coordinate the complete sales cycle, including lead generation, prospect qualification, and leading cross-functional pursuit teams with clear strategies on deal structure, pricing, service offerings, and messaging. The focus is on new sales contracts, team selling, and solution selling. The individual will have a sales quota and be accountable for meeting it. Essential Functions
Lead deal pursuit: develop deal and pricing strategies, create proposal plans, prospect new brands, explore cross-sell opportunities, negotiate contracts, and close deals. Provide ongoing support on closed accounts, explore additional cross-selling opportunities. Enhance industry knowledge for consultative selling. Additional Responsibilities
Focus on one vertical or business unit, with flexibility for other deals at the sales leader’s discretion. Understand how Ryder’s solutions can be tailored to customer needs. Transition new accounts to appropriate teams after 24 months unless directed otherwise. Propose $120 million in revenue over 5 years. Achieve at least one cross-sell opportunity (e.g., SCS/DTS). Adhere to company policies, including travel and expense policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities
Effective communication skills: listening, writing, speaking, presentation delivery. Interpersonal and negotiation skills. Customer service orientation and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and in teams, and meet deadlines. Ability to influence, maintain confidentiality, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of services, costs, pricing, and value propositions. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field required. MBA preferred. Minimum five years of sales experience, including quota attainment and supply chain solutions sales. Valid driver’s license (Class E). Travel 25% to 50% Job Category Outside Sales Compensation Salary range: $125,000 - $165,000, with potential bonuses and incentives.
