Job Overview As a Procurement Manager, you will plan, organize, and direct procurement professionals engaged in purchasing and procurement processes, including contracting for commodities and services. You will serve in a management role within the Bureau of Procurement, contributing to strategic planning and special projects such as COOP (Continuity of Operations Planning). Position Description The Procurement Manager supervises professional staff, reviews procurement work, and ensures compliance with laws and policies. Employees report to the Deputy City Purchasing Agent and work in an office setting, with minimal physical exertion required. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. 7 years of procurement experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role. Or a master’s degree with 5 years of procurement experience (including 3 supervisory years). Or Juris Doctor with 3 years of procurement and supervisory experience. Licenses and Certifications Must pass the UPPCC certification exam for CPPO within four years of hire; failure to do so may result in dismissal. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of public procurement principles, laws, and regulations. Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to lead teams, establish effective relationships, and prepare technical documents. Additional Information Final candidates will undergo criminal background checks, fingerprinting, and must complete a Financial Disclosure within 30 days of hire. All applicants must be able to pass a probationary period and maintain certification as a CPPO. Application Details Submit your application by the deadline.
