Position Summary City Winery Event Captains will host events in coordination with the Manager on Duty (MOD) to execute the Banquet Event Order (BEO), supervise staff, coordinate with the kitchen, and uphold the highest standards of hospitality to clients and guests.

Overview of Responsibilities

Have complete knowledge of the BEO prior to the event and be responsible for its execution.

Provide a full breakout of staff responsibilities 30 minutes prior to the event, with MOD approval if necessary.

For events with a Wine Captain, ensure they are prepared with beverage needs, pull sheets, and coordination details. When no Wine Captain is assigned, the Event Captain will perform these duties.

Run the pre-shift meeting with MOD, assign, and explain staff roles.

During dinner service, ensure proper execution of kitchen expo and tableside service.

Supervise staff during the event to ensure they stay on task and utilize downtime effectively, suggesting early cuts where appropriate.

Supervise handling of rented and in-house materials to prevent breakage or loss.

Perform any other tasks as requested by management.

Closing Responsibilities

Approach responsible parties within 15 minutes of scheduled event end to discuss extension possibilities.

Communicate with bar staff that alcohol service will cease at the scheduled time.

Supervise event breakdown, ensuring it is considerate of guests.

Encourage guests to depart if lingering beyond 15 minutes after the scheduled end.

Lead a walkthrough of used areas post-event, ensuring satisfactory cleanup, and clock out staff with MOD approval.

Leave Event Pull Logs and closed Aloha tabs on the Beverage Director’s desk, with copies for closing notes.

Perform other duties as assigned by management and the Beverage Director.
