This is an on-site position which requires 4 days in our Boston Office. Perigold is seeking a self-motivated and results-oriented individual to join our Business Development team. Our top priority is to offer the largest selection of luxury home goods available anywhere, and this person will play an integral role in delivering on that promise to our customers. Business Development Associates (BDA) are responsible for identifying suppliers that are the right fit for Perigold’s quality-curated luxury home goods offering, quickly building strong relationships with the decision maker(s) and convincing them to work with us, and onboarding them to our platform (Partner Home). BDAs leverage the relationships they’ve built and strong consultative-sales skills to ensure the suppliers they onboard are set up to succeed over the long-term using our self-serve business model (e.g. supplier has strong understanding of the impact “The Recipe” has on revenue potential, and how to use our tools to achieve their goals). Responsibilities can be largely categorized into three stages: Prospecting: Analyze the competitive landscape to identify selection gaps and find the suppliers that can help us fill them. Partner effectively with Perigold’s Category Management leadership team to prioritize the selection gaps and seamlessly adapt your portfolio of targets. Pitching: Leverage strong sales inclination to get a ‘yes’ from our buying targets. Effectively navigate conversations with new vendors by leveraging your expertise on our brand, customer, and category and weave in data-based insights relevant to the suppliers’ specific questions or concerns. BDAs have an innate ability to influence a suppliers’ perspective and convince them to work with us and establish favorable terms. Onboarding: Work both externally and cross-functionally to onboard suppliers quickly and error free. BDAs exhibit a sense of urgency and strong attention to detail. We treat our suppliers like family and our team works closely with new suppliers to support them through the entire onboarding process - from ‘lead to live.’ What You’ll Do Drive improvement in product selection by acquiring new suppliers that can have a meaningful impact on Perigold’s growth and/or customer value proposition Conduct competitive and product category analysis to identify suppliers to increase and expand selection across product categories Establish relationships with brands, partnering effectively to achieve mutual business goals Negotiate for favorable terms with suppliers (selection, price, and quantity) Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships to gain trust, buy-in, and respect with business partners Work closely with CM Leadership to identify and prioritize selection gaps and new vendor opportunities Partner with cross-functional teams to improve the onboarding process, remove roadblocks, and ensure suppliers have the support they need for a seamless launch and smooth transition What You’ll Need Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal A personable and energetic communicator, effective at quickly building relationships with C-level partners externally and senior stakeholders internally Strong negotiator with the ability to adapt to real-time discussions to optimize outcomes Outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once A self-starter capable of achieving goals in an unstructured environment Creates an exceptional sales experience for customers by educating suppliers on the features and benefits of our offering on calls; test and refine messaging on the features and benefits Proven ability to thrive as part of a team and individually Familiarity with Excel, SQL, and Google Suite; Salesforce experience a plus We are looking for dynamic colleagues, who can both work independently and collaborate to solve problems and come up with new ideas – we strongly value entrepreneurship and independent thinker-doers Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Wayfair is fully committed to providing equal opportunities for all individuals, including individuals with disabilities.
