POSITION SUMMARY The Director, Procurement, leads and executes company-wide procurement strategies, establishes procedures for procurement and receiving activities, and ensures materials purchased meet quality and quantity standards while being cost-effective. The role involves developing sourcing strategies, negotiating supplier agreements, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring quality and compliance within cGMPs and SOPs.
Responsibilities
Define procurement strategies and support programs to ensure quality, quantity, and cost-efficiency.
Oversee daily purchasing operations and coordinate activities across departments.
Review raw material availability, costs, lead times, and market trends to optimize procurement and reduce inventory costs.
Develop and maintain supplier relationships, qualification processes, and purchasing terms.
Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance standards.
Establish procurement metrics and KPIs, and implement new processes for RFQs.
Build and lead a high-performing procurement team, developing staff and future leaders.
Experience / Competencies / Proficiencies
Bachelor’s degree required; 10+ years of relevant experience with a proven success record.
Deep understanding of the nutritional supplement or food industry, including suppliers and contract manufacturers.
Experience leading enterprise-wide procurement initiatives.
Strong performance measurement and development skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Knowledge of relevant software and procurement tools.
