Full-time; Monday-Friday The role you will contribute: Under the supervision of the Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Manager, and sometimes the Director of CDI, in collaboration with physicians, nursing, and HIM coders, the CDI Quality & Compliance Team Leader facilitates and ensures quality physician documentation for clinical conditions or procedures. The role involves educating the patient care team on documentation guidelines, ensuring compliance, and participating in quality audits. The leader adheres to departmental and organizational goals, standards, and policies, ensuring quality documentation and regulatory compliance. The position also involves maintaining relationships through outstanding customer service. The value you will bring to the team: Demonstrates integrity, compassion, balance, excellence, stewardship, and teamwork Performs accurate and timely record reviews for compliance and quality assurance across facilities quarterly Provides feedback to CDI Market Leaders through audit inputs Conducts quality reviews of medical records for compliance, including severity of illness (SOI), risk of mortality (ROM), and other performance measures Supports documentation strategies and continues education using various educational tools Identifies opportunities for documentation improvement through critical thinking Transcribes documentation clarifications for SOI, ROM, PSI, HCCs, and HACs to ensure compliance Educates the care team on documentation regulations and guidelines, including quarterly Medicare updates Communicates effectively with physicians and healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation, collaborating with HIM staff to resolve discrepancies Leads CDI projects, planning and implementing them collaboratively Participates in meetings, providing feedback and educational opportunities Maintains professional growth through ongoing education Performs additional duties as assigned Travels to various facilities, potentially overnight, with travel approximately 30% annually Qualifications: · Minimum of five (5) years of acute care nursing experience in medical/surgical, ICU, post-acute, or Emergency Department settings. · Two (2) years of Clinical Documentation Specialist experience. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required: · Active State license as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician’s Assistant. · For unlicensed physicians: graduation from a medical school listed in the World Directory meeting ECFMG eligibility at graduation. · CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) certification.
