COBOL Mainframe Programmer

Our client is looking to hire a results-oriented and adaptable COBOL Mainframe Programmer with a "can do attitude" to provide application development and support for DCF related to mainframe applications. This position will work as part of a team to develop and enhance mainframe applications using technologies such as COBOL and DB2 databases to implement maintenance & enhancement mainframe functionality. This Cobol Mainframe Programmer will work on high profile mainframe application projects, maintain online and batch application programs by reviewing, analyzing, coding, testing, and debugging application code. The role will also be responsible for developing specifications, diagrams, flowcharts and documentation. The COBOL Mainframe Programmer will analyze and develop programs using COBOL, DB2, XML, and JCL for the new enhancements and will implement application changes, enhancements and new applications and provide post implementation support. Tasks: Be responsible for providing technical solutioning on complex eligibility application and its architecture. Work closely with the project lead and management to understand and prioritize project tasks. Solve complex technical problems. Understand business objectives and problems. Understand the requirements, analyze the system impact, develop process documents and flowcharts, design, code, unit/integration test and deploy using mainframe tools and technologies. Collaborate with analysts, QA, and business users to gather requirements and deliver solutions. Conduct code reviews and participate in unit and smoke testing. Create and maintain technical documentation, database models, and system architecture diagrams. Provide post-production support and resolve system issues in a timely manner. Ensure adherence to development standards, performance optimization, and security best practices. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist. Local candidates preferred. This position is mostly remote. Onsite work is not likely, but candidate should be prepared to come onsite if required.
