Part-Time Public Transit Dispatcher
Seward County is accepting applications for the position of a part-time Dispatcher for the Public Transit Office! This 20-24 hour/week position assists the Public Transit Director in the efficient operation of the department through the performance of various administrative support functions, dispatching, and scheduling rides and drivers for the program.
Starting wage is $15.76/hour or more, depending on experience.
Other duties include:
Carries out dispatching/scheduling duties and directs Public Transit drivers to meet the client’s needs.
Schedules appointments for clients and maintains scheduling for the Seward County Fleet program.
Perform a variety of clerical and communication skills including typing-computer operation, routine bookkeeping principles, and ability to operate a multi-line phone system and have pleasant communication skills. Ensures employees are turning in appropriate paperwork.
Answers the telephone, directs calls to appropriate personnel, takes accurate messages, and/or handles inquiries. Has pleasant communication skills. Maintains a clean and orderly office.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in the use of computers including data processing, word processing and scheduling related computer software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent .
Must be 18 years of age.
Valid Nebraska driver’s license.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must pass a DOT/FTA Drug and Alcohol Test within sixty (60) days of employment and be subject to random DOT/FTA Drug and Alcohol Tests.
Must attend Nebraska Dept of Transportation Initial Drivers’ Training within the first year of employment and must complete a minimum of 4 (four) hours of continuing education per calendar year as required by Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Must become certified in CPR, AED and Basic First Aid through the American Heart Association and maintain certification thru appropriate refresher training.
