Job Summary
This contractor role lives within the Unsecured Lending Operations team and blends hands-on SAS Viya development with business analysis. The person will enable and expand reporting capabilities-control, performance, and business intelligence-by unlocking new functionality in SAS/SAS Viya applications and translating stakeholder needs into tested, production-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and support reporting solutions using
SAS Viya
(or traditional SAS with intent to ramp into Viya) for control reporting, performance-based reporting, and BI. Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit, document, and refine requirements; write user stories; and identify practical solution approaches. Analyze existing reporting workflows, surface gaps/opportunities, and implement new or improved functionality within SAS applications (macros, data transformations, custom logic). Utilize
SQL
for source data preparation, integration, and validation supporting SAS reports. Drive testing efforts: create/test unit and integration tests, coordinate and support UAT, and validate output accuracy. Translate regulatory or operational needs into technical specifications in partnership with development and operations teams. Troubleshoot production issues, provide user support, and ensure report reliability and performance. Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation (requirements, technical design, test plans, release notes). Assist in the transition or upskilling of traditional SAS SMEs to SAS Viya where needed. Operate within established control frameworks, ensuring data quality, compliance, and risk-aware delivery. Required Qualifications
Strong SAS development/programming experience; demonstrated ability to unlock new functionality in SAS applications. Experience with
SAS Viya
development is strongly preferred; candidates with traditional SAS expertise must show capacity and willingness to become Viya-capable. Solid
business analysis
skills: requirements gathering, solution identification, user story creation, and coordinating with development/testing teams. Proficiency in
SQL
for data manipulation and report data sourcing. Experience building or supporting control/performance/reporting systems. Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively on project teams in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving orientation with attention to detail and operational risk awareness. Preferred Qualifications
Background in
financial services , unsecured lending, or operational reporting environments. Familiarity with BI/reporting visualization concepts (e.g., SAS Visual Analytics or similar). Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery, including story grooming and sprint collaboration. Exposure to data governance, data quality controls, and documentation standards. Prior involvement in SAS migration or modernization efforts (e.g., legacy SASSAS Viya). Version control usage (Git, etc.) and structured release/deployment processes. Notes
